Medieval festival brings live jousting and fire shows to Geelong
The Geelong Medieval Festival runs on Saturday 29th November and Sunday, 30th November 2025 at the Geelong Showgrounds. The event opens from 10 am to 4.30 pm and delivers a full medieval village with performers, markets, animals, fire shows and live combat. Visitors can take part in a themed weekend that mixes entertainment, craft stalls and hands-on activities.
What visitors can expect
The festival features live jousting across both days and places visitors close to the action. Knights ride in full gear, performers roam through the grounds and armour displays sit around the arena. Families can explore the artisan lanes, chat with costumed characters and join simple activities for children.

Dogs on leads are welcome which helps families plan longer stays. Seating areas sit across the venue so visitors can watch shows or settle in for food and drinks when they need a break.
Two themed taverns serve mead and other festival drinks. Fire artists close the afternoon program with a high-energy performance. The organisers encourage people to dress up which always lifts the atmosphere and helps the festival feel more immersive.
Markets, food and entertainment
Artisan stalls line the market lanes with handmade goods, leatherwork, jewellery, bladesmithing pieces and candles. People often head straight for these stalls because they offer one-off gifts and collector items. Food vendors serve hearty festival meals, sweet snacks and easy grab-and-go options. The mix of markets and food adds life to the village setting.

Ticket prices follow a simple structure. Adults cost $30, concession tickets are $25, children under 16 are $15 and kids under 10 enter for free. Buying online is the easiest option. Parking sits around the Showgrounds, and arriving early makes access smoother.
Visitors can move freely across all zones. The arena hosts combat and jousting displays. Market areas remain busy throughout the day. Fire performers appear in the afternoon program. The schedule spreads shows out, which gives visitors enough time to explore.
Why the festival stands out

The festival offers something different for regional Victoria. It blends history, performance and hands-on activities which makes it suitable for all ages. Many people come for the atmosphere. Others visit for the markets or the chance to see jousting at close range. The event creates a strong weekend draw for Geelong and continues to grow each year.
