A New Yarra Valley Yum Cha Experience
Re’em Yarra Valley at Helen & Joey Estate is bringing a taste of China to Victoria’s wine country with its newly launched Sunday Yum Cha experience. Set among 200 acres of rolling vineyards, the restaurant invites guests to indulge in a unique blend of Chinese culinary tradition and Yarra Valley’s finest produce.
Every Sunday from 12 – 3 pm, diners can gather over an $90pp Yum Cha feast, beginning with a glass of sparkling Unicorn NV Blanc de Blanc and followed by eight sharing dishes paired with estate wines, including the award-winning Wayward Child Pinot Gris. Additional dishes can be added for $10, making it a flexible and indulgent experience for groups.

The menu is a celebration of both heritage and local flavours. Guests can expect delights such as shepherd’s purse pork and ginger dumplings, scallop shumai with Yarra Valley Caviar, BBQ Kangaroo Kung Pao, and the much-loved pork and mushroom xiao long bao. Each dish reflects the collaboration between owner Helen Xu, consultant executive chef Mark Ebbels, and venue manager Darren Fraser, a finalist in the Good Food Guide 2024 Service Excellence Awards.
Helen Xu, who drew inspiration from her own childhood, explains the significance of this new offering: “I’m so excited to bring a Yum Cha experience to the Yarra Valley! In China, Yum Cha is a beautiful social ritual for conversation and community, a chance to connect with loved ones over great food. Growing up, we would have Yum Cha every Sunday, and it was a chance to come together at the end of a long week, to share stories, unwind, or celebrate the small joys in life.”

Priced from $160 for two, this package includes an overnight stay in the boutique hotel, Yum Cha for two with a welcome drink on arrival, and breakfast the next morning.
